The Journey…..

Paul and I left on a journey this past April. We wanted to explore and experience anything and everything. 36 days of  traveling and working abroad. Throughout my trip I documented each day using my Polaroid 600SE. After taking the photos I would select my favorites to place into my sketchbook. Here I created illustrations and told the story of our adventure.

Paris in the spring is so pretty. I love walking and having pink blossoms blow past my cheeks.

In the Latin Quarter we visited our favorite old hangouts from when we were students at La Sorbonne. It was great to sip wine and view the tourists and locals as they strolled through the streets viewing the statue of St. Michel and La Notre Dame.

In France they have the most beautiful flowers.

We then headed to the countryside to work the land and return to nature. We spent a week in Normandie working on a lavender field. It was tough work but it was an incredibly rewarding experience.

Leaving our work and France behind we left on a flight to Zagreb, Croatia. Here we traveled by bus and ferry to Split, Dubrovnik and the Island of Brac.

The best way to get around on a island is by scooter!

After exploring islands and bathing in the sun we left to work on a vineyard in a beautiful place called Brisighella, Italia.

It was great to meet new friends along the way… although I learned very quickly that the geese had no such intentions.

Mauro in his vineyard. One of the most talented, amazing people I have ever met. It was a privilege  to spend a week working amongst his grapes, meeting his family, and listening to the beautiful sounds he created on his cello.

Leaving the vineyard behind was difficult, but it was exciting to travel to a new place Paul and I had never seen… Amsterdam.

I spent my Birthday here and Paul drew on this Polaroid for me as a little gift. Amsterdam is a beautiful place. Especially in the spring. On my Birthday 5 Mei, the streets were filled with people and as we drifted through the canals the bridges were lit and I could hear them singing. My Birthday is also a holiday in Holland.

And so our trip came to an end. 36 days of leisure, love, work, learning and exploration.

But our Journey continues…. and we can’t wait.
